Let’s get cozy!

The sun may still be shining here on the South Coast of England but I think we can all admit that summer has indeed departed. That’s ok! We are entering my favourite season and as your personal stylist, I’m here to help with all your autumn outfit needs.

There are leaves on the ground, a nip in the air and I for one cannot wait to get the sweaters out.

Here’s my guide on how to look good and feel great in knitwear. One massive dose of hygge well-being coming up!

Go Natural

Great style is about feeling great too, so the knit must be comfortable against your skin. A super soft 100% cashmere or a cotton/linen knit will do just that. Marino wool is also very soft due to its finely spun fibres however, you may find animal fibres can make you itch.

Top tip: wear a thin base layer (like a long sleeve jersey tee) under your knitwear. Not only will this put a barrier between you and the itch, but it will also protect your jumper from oils and scents released from the skin giving your knit a longer life.

Invest

I know it sounds £££ but invest in quality and sustainable knitwear in a classic style (think a simple crew, v-neck style, cable knit) that you will be able to pull out year after year. Balloon sleeves and frilly collars may be the autumn fashion trend right now, but will we be wearing them in a couple of years? If you think of the cost-per-wear ratio, we want pieces in our wardrobe that are a timeless go-to. Crikey, I have sweaters in my wardrobe that are in double digits now and I wouldn’t be without them! Join me in next week’s blog post to see exactly how to look after your knitwear and give your much-loved jumper a long life!

Body shape and style personality

Let’s not forget our personal style. My role is to advise clients on clothing that best suits their body shape. Knitwear is no different. We can do cinched-in waists, longline, open up the neck area and if colour is your thing then go for it!

Whether you plan to walk the dog, cosy up at your work desk or light candles and lounge at home, there is something for everyone. Check out some of my favourite fashion finds from this season…
